Overview
In Cumulative Update 8 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, functionality was added to define an output location specific to a resource group on a production order. A production order now will have their own specific output location as opposed to one generic location as in R3. This functionality will enable workers to know exactly where to pick up goods that were created in the production order.
Route Setup
In order to set up this new functionality, we need to first look at the route of a product. Please navigate to:
Product information management > Common > Released products. Select the product > Engineer tab > Route
Once on this form, select the last operation for the route in the line information. Then select the Resource requirement tab. The output location is specific to the requirement type “Resource group”.
Select the resource group and click on the group number to have the Resource group form popup. (Alternatively, if you know what resource group requirement number is associated with the route, you can go to Organization administration > Common > Resources > Resource groups to immediately modify the resource groups)
Resource Group
On this form, under the general fast tab, is a selection with the header of “Locations”. This is where you can enter in the input and output warehouse and location.
If no Input/output location is defined on the resource group, then the default location that is set up on the warehouse will be used.
Work Details
Now when a production order is run for that product, if you look at the work details (Warehouse Management > Common > Work > All Work) the location that is selected is the output location that was added under the Resource group form.
