AX for Plastics complements and extends a world class business management solution platform—Microsoft Dynamics AX—to provide a complete end-to-end business management system.
Microsoft Dynamics AX is an ideal solution for companies that have a combination of discrete, process, project or lean manufacturing requirements. AX for Plastics by Ellipse Solutions broadens this functionality focusing on injection molders, extruders, film and bag processors, blow molders, thermoformers, and compounders.
While it adds value in areas like Sales & Marketing and Procurement, it specifically targets key functionality in Production Control and Inventory Management. Some of the newly added features include:
Cycle Count journal locking flexibility (e.g., by location)
Customer attributes
Blender management mobile application
Default Site/Warehouse designation by user for key transactions
AX for Plastics includes the initial release of a mobile app currently targeting plastics blenders. The Mobile app gives shop floor personnel the ability to manage formula creation or modifications as well as the ability to collect information about the actual consumption. The ERP (in this case, Microsoft Dynamics AX) remains the main data source for all master data. The key is mobile devices will have bi-directional interfaces to Dynamics AX to control blenders while also allowing visibility to key information being returned from these same blenders.
In the near future, we are adding the ability to search, pre-stage formulas, and re-sequence jobs to help shop floor users with common and useful real-time functions on the go.
Real-time responsiveness, improved quality, pro-active asset management, better process control and visibility - you are going to hear a lot more about “Internet of Things” (IoT) and how it can positively impact the cost, efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing systems. Ellipse Solutions has deep experience, and will continue its work with commercial and legacy Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) integration projects that find unique ways to improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the machines that are core to their business.
Ellipse Solutions continues to develop solutions that focus on plastic, paper and packaging manufacturing environments for Microsoft Dynamics AX customers.
