This year’s Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms has Microsoft taking a defining lead over other providers. It is no secret that the company has been re-aligning its offerings as “One Microsoft” under Satya Nadella, and that same vision is evident in Power BI.
Establishing itself as a leader in this year’s quadrant, Microsoft is one of only three platforms in the field and possesses the most complete vision by far. In comparison, while Microsoft was a leader in last year’s quadrant, it was behind others in terms of both ability to execute and completeness of vision. With the cloud-based capabilities of Azure, endless possibilities brought to the table by Cortana and a network of partners that is continuously improving, it is no surprise that there was such a jump ahead this year.
