Dynamics 365 & Azure Iot Suite - Temperature Sensor Demo

Technologically speaking, we live in a very exciting time. With the rapid advances and increased connectivity, many refer to it as the 4th Industrial Revolution. You have likely heard at least a few of the buzz words associated with this “Industry 4.0.” Big data, Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Business Intelligence (BI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud, etc… In the video below, we demonstrate how a variety of Microsoft technologies are able to work together in a true representation of the Industry 4.0 model.

While watching, think of the possible applications for your industry, your shop floor, your field service technician or any other type of remote device you may utilize.

We will use and explain the following technologies:

  • Microsoft Azure IoT Suite

  • Azure IoT Hub

  • Azure Stream Analytics

  • Azure Storage

  • DocumentDB

  • Azure Event Hub

  • Azure Web Apps/Web Jobs

  • Raspberry Pi

  • Universal Windows Application

  • Power BI

  • Revlon 1875W Hair Dryer

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations (technically AX 7 at the time of the video)

In our example, we will be measuring the temperature of our “production line” in real time. We will show how to gauge this data, bring it immediately to Dynamics 365 and react to alerts and events within your ERP system. This is applicable to any industry where temperature is one of the measurable qualifiers for either production or quality control, such as rubber, plastics, steel, etc.

In addition to important alerts (like warnings about the production line burning down), we will also be taking the operational metrics measured in real time and combining them with cost and productivity data in Dynamics 365 for Operations.

While other ERP systems can be configured to utilize a network of connected devices, perhaps none of them are as equipped as the cloud-born, browser-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations. With Dynamics 365 running the show, it is possible to seamlessly transition from data collection to data visualization and actionable results.
